Farooq Sheikh, one of the most elegant and nuanced performers of all times, would have been celebrating his 7Oth birthday today. Sadly, he is not with us anymore. After more than three years after his demise we could not help but remember Sheikh for his cinematic brilliance. Sheikh made his movie  debut in the movie 'Garam Hawa' where played the son of Balraj Sahani. He also worked with Satyajit Ray in the maverick filmmaker's  solo Hindi release Shatranj ke Khiladi.

An actor who belonged to his own league, Sheikh rolled out one brilliant performance after the other. Be it his movies or his popular play, such as Tumhari Amrita, the veteran  always brought his A game on the table. Google has celebrated his 70th birthday with a doodle dedicated to him. We decided to revisit his last film Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani and marvel at how elegant his presence was on the silverscreen.

Sheikh played the father of the hot blooded creative lad, played by Ranbir Kapoor who wants to live life entirely on his terms and conditions, and deliver some really magical moments. Look how beautifully Sheikh has emoted those turbulent emotions with ease as indeed with conviction. This scene is not an out and out tear jerker but it surely tickles your core and moves you.

A father and son relationship doesn't have to be about goofy bonding all the time. Sometimes there are difference of opinion which are further fulled by a generation gap. But this scene encapsulates the dilemma every father goes through. This is Sheikh's last movie and he certainly has left us with a memorable performance that will be cherished for long. Do take a look!
