Yeti! Yes, according to the latest post by the Indian Army, they have spotted footprints of the mythical creature close to Makalu Base Camp on April 9, 2019. Pictures of the footprints were shared by the Indian Army on Twitter and ever since the internet has been going crazy over this phenomenon. The closest reference you'll probably have of the Yeti would be in the Friends episode, 'The One with the Yeti'. In the popular episode, Monica and Rachel mistake their new neighbour for a Yeti played by George Young Newbern. For the uninitiated, a Yeti is a mythical beast that was popularly referenced in folklore from Nepal. In North American folklore, they are known as Bigfoot or Sasquatch. It is considered to be a large furry creature residing in the mountains. There have been several movies based on the Yeti aka abominable snowman, here's looking at a few of them.

1. Smallfoot

As opposed to legend, the makers of Smallfoot decided to present a friendlier version of Yeti through this animated film. Actor Channing Tatum voiced Migo - the Yeti in this 2018 film. The film revolved around Migowhose world gets turned upside down when he discovers a human.

2. Yeti Obhijaan

Yeti Obhijaan is a popular 2017 film directed by Srijit Mukherji. The film starred Prosenjit Chatterjee and Jisshu Sengupta in lead roles. 3. Ajooba Kudrat Ka

Whenever you talk about the horror/fantasy genre in Bollywood, the earliest references you will find will be of films directed by the Ramsay brothers. Ajooba Kudrat Kaa or Ajooba Kudrat Ka is a 1991 Bollywood thriller directed by Shyam Ramsay and Tulsi Ramsay revolving around the concept of Yeti. The film revolved around an unusual relationship between a Yeti and a young girl. The film even consists of a song called 'Yeti I Love You' crooned by Sadhna Sargam.

4. Snow Beast

This 2011 film revolves around a ski-resort where visitors are being brutally murdered by a Yeti. The films starred John Schneider, Jason London, Danielle Chuchran, Paul D. Hunt. The film didn't fetch any good reviews but is a well-known film in the 'Yeti' genre so to say.

5. Bigfoot The Movie

Bigfoot (2015) the movie is yet another Hollywood flick revolving around the 'big beast'. The film set in Pennsylvania shows four locals trying to hunt down the Bigfoot who has been creating havoc in their town. It starred Jared Show, Joanie Dodds and Curt Wootton in lead roles.

We bet the concept of Yeti has now taken your interest and in most cases, you will find them referenced in cinema, only in the thriller/horror genres.
