“Social Media came in,” quipped Joe Root, at a press conference, when he was asked about what’s to blame for the leave disappearing in Test cricket. The England Test team captain, Root, was at his candid best when he replied to a query in the context of the dearth in leaving the balls in Test Cricket recently.

Speaking more on it, Root said, “Without trying to get into much in-depth into the way the world’s changed, people want all things now all the time, and that creeps into everything else that you do. Naturally, the game has got quicker."

Adding more sense to his comment, Root said that the introduction of Twenty20 Cricket has also led to such a change. The England captain said, “Twenty20 has come in, and with guys all the three formats, it’s always going to have some impact into your game… It’s the way the game has moved forward.”
